The Parent's Time Clock
Interactive Guide
Parents, take a moment and fill out the form below. In each block enter
the amount of hours you generally spend doing each activity every day.
The number you just entered in the box above is roughly the amount of time
you have left in the day to spend time with your kids.
Startling, isn't it?
Are there other activities you spend time on that aren't accounted for on this
chart, such as social activities, church, PTA?
Tools like this one can be very revealing to us. They can help us figure out
what our priorities are.
What is this tool telling you? Have your kids been difficult lately? This tool
might give you some clues as to why.
Is there something you can change? Cut out? Save until after the kids go to
bed?
Here's another option. Which activities can you do with your kids?
Take another look at the table. For each activity that you can do with your
kids, change the number to zero and do the calculation again.
How much more time does that give you with your kids each day?
The cool thing about doing these things with your kids is that it means more
productive time with you rather than time wasted in front of cartoons.
In the long run, that's the best kind of time there is.
